![]() So i took cygwin and installed a crappy 1.8 gb(yes! windows xp sp3 is only 3.5 gb leaving aside the program files etc) when i selected the base, lib, x11 utils option and the system slows down drastically showing a snowy fontforge menu) and to open a font file it takes a lot of time so i decided to move away from cygwin. However i am not a linux guy and in linux you need to build build build…. I paid for a costly windows font editor software and later found that it cannot edit the substitution tables in OT and TT fonts (GPOS, etc) for indic characters, it is very essential then i thought i would use fontforge as many references are available and it is open source and re-scritable Separate but related, a Windows package of Glyphtracer: Note: A preexisting Python 2.7 installation is needed in one’s PATH.ĭevelopment can be followed on the package’s Bitbucket site. If there is none, then your font is definitely damaged. Since the lower quotation mark is substituted only at left of a word, check there is no space before the single quote. However, since the replacement rules are relatively smart, the substitution you experience is a sign of bad typing. Uncheck the Replace boxes to disable the feature. The bottom half of this tab is dedicated to replacement rules for single and double quotes. Next go to Tools> AutoCorrect> AutoCorrect Options, Localized Options tab. You can also as foolproof measure force language with Tools> Language>… You can tell this from the bottom toolbar. Language of the document is French (on your screenshot), but double check that every affected document is French. IMHO, the problem comes from some AutoCorrect option set differently from previous version. Very often, the OS sends a replacement glyph taken in a “compatible” font family. At most, you get a glyph representing missing characters in the font. This suggests display of a font other than Liberation Serif or a damaged font.Īnyway, a missing character in a font never changes the code of characters in a document. Last but not least, U+2019 RIGHT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK should be in upper not lower position. In my Liberation Serif display in Writer, the character displayed before HYPHEN is U+1EF3 LATIN SMALL LETTER Y WITH GRAVE (in Latin Extended Additionals). The “missing” hyphen is U+2010 HYPHEN which is strange for such a “common” character. ![]() Note however that Liberation Serif is grayed out in Writer showing that the font has not been explicitly selected. Differences are then possible between OS character selection and Writer special character selection. It is likely that the OS “Table des caracteres” tries to display substitutes for missing characters in the selected font. You didn’t mention your OS and I assume it is some version of Windows. ![]()
